While thinking about today’s post I stumbled across the topic of multitasking. I remembered then reading some time ago how in fact juggling several tasks at the same time makes us less productive.

I’ve been pretty guilty recently of indulging with distractions like social media and an ever expanding RSS list. All the while the pile of work to be done keeps on growing.  So maybe it was time to become more strict about the multitasking.

Then I wondered – does listening to music count? Fortunately the answer is no from Stanford Professor Clifford Nass:

“In the case of music, it’s a little different. We have a special part of our brain for music, so we can listen to music while we do other things.”

Phew… Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be a similar decisive statement for podcasts.
